Lester gets it

This morning the letterbox disgorged the latest issue of New Zealand Mountain Biker.

Among many other interesting things, there was a review of Nzo 247s. This came as a surprise, because I can't remember sending anything to the publisher.

Getting a product reviewed by a magazine writer is always slightly nerve-wracking, because what we think is a good idea may not be considered good by somebody else. The review was written by Lester Perry, and I will admit to some history there. We have known Lester for decades, and even sponsored him briefly when he and the legendary Dodzy put the Torpedo7 Downhill Team on the road some time after the last ice age.

So what did he reckon?

"The fit of the 247s is tapered and slim. They're roomy enough up top to allow for movement and comfortable use of low-profile kneepads and fitting enough through the calf and lower leg to not make contact with a greasy chain, but not to point of being skinny".

"Each side of the waistband has a velcro adjuster, meaning each of the seven available sizes are tunable to a wearer's specific anatomy".

"The fabric throughout is a loop-back stretch which is soft against the skin and allows for all manner of yoga inspired poses, either on or off the bike".

"After numerous rides in mainly winter conditions, there's no obvious wear on the fabric".

"These bad boys are comfortable nough for long days on the pedals but also when hiking trails or chilling at the espresso bar".

So Lester reckons pretty much what we do.
