Features

The centre section and back yoke are made of Nzonium, our stretch knit wonder fabric.

The side panels are a new version of a fabric we call NzoFlex, a quick dry nylon/elastane which is super durable, and also has oodles of four way stretch.

NzoFlex adds a whole lot of extra comfort to an already well-engineered design. It has a tough outer surface of a very close-woven finish, with a softer moisture wicking finish on the inside.

Open pockets are positioned so they are folded closed when you are riding, and secure 2 zip pockets on both sides position any freight low and to the back of the leg, where it is least likely to be annoying.

The pockets are lined with mesh, so can be used as vents if you prefer. Drawstring elastic waist is simple but good when it comes to riding functionality.

A fleece pad makes them work “commando style”, or you can wear them with anything from sports undies to Cruiseliners, depending how far you are planning to go. Olive Dobies are a two-tone olive and black, with black topstitching.

Fabric & Care

Dobies are machine washable, use a cold wash and put them in with similar colours.

Do not bleach, please don't tumble dry and no dry cleaning!

What’s the difference between Dobies and Sifters?
Great question (we get this one a lot!) Both are awesome all-round trail shorts, but Dobies are lightly padded and a touch more “deluxe”, while Sifters are unpadded and a bit more minimalist. Dobies are your go-to for longer rides or multi-day adventures; Sifters shine when you want something light, quick, and versatile.

Are Dobies unisex?
Yep! Dobies are designed to fit both men and women comfortably. They feature a drawstring elastic waist and stretch fabrics that adapt to a wide range of body shapes.

Do Dobies have padding?
Dobies include a light fleece pad, making them great to wear “commando style.” If you prefer extra padding, you can still pair them with your favourite liner or our Cruiseliners for longer rides.

What are Dobies made from?
Dobies are built from two clever Nzo fabrics:
Nzonium: our stretch knit wonder fabric for all-day comfort and mobility.
NzoFlex: a quick-dry nylon/elastane blend with serious durability and four-way stretch.
Together they make Dobies tough, flexible, and ridiculously comfortable.

How should I wash them?
Keep it super simple by machine washing with like colours, ditch the dry cleaner and tumble dryer and hang them out ready for your next ride.

Is the Grey colour really limited edition?
Whenever we produce a batch of our shorts or pants in black we usually make a smaller quantity in colours we think are good. We may repeat them, we may not. This batch of Dobies in Grey may be repeated at some point, but it won't be any time soon.

An instant classic

When we kicked off the Nzo project there was a cafe just around the corner getting their start at the same time. Zippies became a staple feature of Rotorua's growing mountain biking scene and was our watering hole in those early days. It is still a great cafe three ownerships later.

We were used by the original owners as test mules for their coffee machine skillset. They would bring cups of joe around to Nzo (N-Zone as it was back then) for us to either relish or spit out. We shared new designs with them to similar effect.

When we came up with Dobies they were an instant hit with everybody who tried them, including Dai (OG at Zippies and featured in this little clip looking casual at Rotorua's historic Blue Baths). One of the regulars at Zippies even came up with the unlikely name. We put a clipboard on the counter at the shop and Jake suggested Dobies, not Doobies or Dobbies. Dobies, like Dough-bees. He got a custom pair with double contrast piping for his trouble. Little did we know we had a completely unique design that would still be our mainstay a quarter century later.
